Shop With Us

Ordering books online through this website is intended to make shopping with us easy, but you can order books from us in other ways:

  • Call us at 415-821-3477.
  • Text us at 415-275-1839.
  • Email us at orders@foliosf.com.
  • Stop by the store during our open hours, 10 am to 6 pm daily, for help from a bookseller.
  • Use our Bookshop.org affiliate portal (Bookshop.org/shop/foliosf) and we will benefit generously from your purchases.

If you do want to proceed with ordering via this spiffy new website then you can search via the sidebar, puruse our staff picks and curated lists, or browse by subject. Add books to your cart or put them on a wishlist for later.

  1. As you shop please note each book's availability status:
    • In the Store Now – our staff will pull the book and send you a confirming email when it is ready for pickup.
    • Available to Order – we will special order the book for you, and our staff will email you timeframe details. Most books take 2-3 business days to arrive, but some are shipped from the east coast and can take 10-14 days.
    • Backordered - May be Available Soon – the book is temporarily out of stock at our distributors, but our staff will monitor availability and will contact you when it when it is back in stock.
    • Available for Pre-Order – The book has not yet been published.  We will put it in our system so that you will receive it when it is released.
    • Not Available from Us – This book is not available to us through normal trade channels. You might try sites such as powells.com, alibris.com, or bibliofinder.com for available used copies.
  2. As you go through the checkout process, please keep in mind:
    • Books can be picked up at the store, shipped to you or others, or delivered locally.
    • For local delivery, choose "Pick up at store", then leave us a note in the order comments.
    • You can pay with a credit card during checkout or specify payment during pickup at the store. As a matter of policy, we wait to charge your card until the book is at the store or has been shipped.
    • Use the comments field to ask the staff for information or request a service such as gift wrapping, local delivery, or a callback.
  3. Once checkout is complete, you’ll receive an automated email to let you know the checkout process was successful.
  4. You’ll receive a follow-up email from our staff within 24 hours to confirm details once the order has been reviewed.
